Upload Text Online and Share: From File or Paste Box
Upload text online and share it as a note or a file. Learn when to paste, when to upload a .txt, and how recipients download or copy the content.
Upload text online and share covers two jobs that look similar: pasting words into a box, and sending a text file that someone else can open. People say “upload” for both. The right path depends on whether the other person needs a file or just the words.
Airclippy supports both. The share box accepts typed or pasted text. The same form can attach files. The dedicated file-share page is better when the text lives in a document already.
Paste vs Upload
Paste when the content is a paragraph, a list, a URL, or a code block you already copied. The recipient copies it back out. No file manager, no “what app opens this.”
Upload when you already have a .txt, .md, .csv, or a PDF and you want them to download that file intact. Also upload when the text is too awkward to select from a preview, such as a long log.
If you are unsure, paste. Most “upload text” requests are really “get these words off my phone.”
How to Upload Text Online and Share It
Option A: Paste the words
- Open airclippy.com/share
- Paste the text
- Choose Same Network or Global
- Share and send the link or code
Option B: Attach a text file on the share page
- Open airclippy.com/share
- Add an optional note in the box so the file has context
- Attach the .txt or other allowed file
- Share. The recipient downloads from the note
Option C: Use the file-share page
- Open airclippy.com/file-share
- Drop the file or click to select
- Add a short note if needed
- Share. Recipients get a link and code
Guests can send files up to 5 MB (up to 3 files). Signed-in users can send up to 200 MB (up to 10 files). That is enough for documents and most images. It is not a backup drive.
What File Types Belong Here
Good fits: .txt, .md, .csv, .pdf, office docs, images, and short videos within the size cap.
Bad fits: executables, random archives, and anything the terms block. The uploader is a clipboard with attachments, not anonymous file hosting.
If you need the other person to edit the document with you, use a real editor. If you need them to have the bytes once, upload and share.
Uploading From a Phone
Phones hide files in different apps. In the browser, use the system file picker or share-sheet “Open in browser” if you already have the file. For a note in another app, select all, copy, and paste into /share. That is still “uploading text” from the other person’s point of view.
If the phone photo is the payload, use /file-share. If the caption is the payload, paste it.
How Recipients Get the Text
- Open the share link
- Or enter the 4-digit code on /share
- Copy the text, or download the attachment
- For images, preview first, then save
Burn-after-read files disappear after the first view. Tell the recipient to download immediately. 1-hour shares also disappear. Signed-in lasting shares stay until they expire or you delete them, but attaching sensitive files to a long-lived link is a mistake.
Upload Text vs Cloud Folders
Drive, Dropbox, and iCloud are libraries. They keep versions and permissions. Uploading text to a clipboard is a handoff. If you find yourself uploading the same file every morning, you wanted a folder. If you upload once so a coworker can grab it during a standup, you wanted a clipboard.
Naming, notes, and preview
When you upload a file, the file name is the first thing the recipient sees. `final-final2.txt` wastes a minute. `interview-questions-oct13.txt` does not. Add a one-line note in the box if the file is not self-explanatory: “CSV of public holiday dates, UTF-8.” The note travels with the download.
Recipients should still open text files in an editor they trust. A `.txt` from a stranger can contain copy-paste surprises. Do not run a `.js` attachment from a clipboard unless you know the sender. Airclippy blocks many dangerous extensions, but social engineering does not care about extensions.
Privacy When You Upload Text
The file is as public as the mode you picked. Same Network is the narrowest. Global plus a link is a shared secret only if you keep the URL to yourself. a longer signed-in expiry is publishing.
Do not upload exports that contain emails, passwords, or customer data. If you must move something sensitive for an hour, use encryption on the text note and skip public mode. Prefer P2P for a large file when both people can stay on the page.
The Short Version
Upload text online and share it by pasting into Airclippy or attaching the file on /share or /file-share. Paste for words. Upload for files. Send the link. Let the note expire unless you meant to publish.
